Past meets present
Locals flocked to the launch of Annies lounge bar - £600,000 had been well spent on the glitzy contemporary-meets-Louis XVI interior. Guests quaffed prosecco while enjoying jazz piano courtesy of renowned composer John Hill, who will be performing at Annies every Saturday evening.

Afternoon tea
There were hugs all round from movie star Bob Hoskins at a recent garden party at Hampstead Hospice. The event celebrated 60 years of volunteering for the hospice and charities, including Marie Curie Cancer Care. Hoskins, whose father was cared for by the hospice, gave a moving speech in celebration of long-standing hospice staff members, ranging up to 30 years’ loyalty. Guests enjoyed refreshments and cakes from Café Rouge.

Rising stars
The recent Jason Young Unplugged gig in aid of The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice proved a hit with music movers and shakers. Supporting Jason Young – who supported Take That on their recent tour – were Belsize Park resident Nicol and Hendon resident Nathalie Nahai. Shooting Star fundraising manager Mike Hey introduced the event which was held at glam members’ club Century in Soho. The evening raised £2,000 for the charity. Raffle prizes worth more than £1,000, included gifts from Molly Brown, Mimi-Bijoux and Kabiri jewellers, Clifton Nurseries, Nicole Farhi, Osteria Stecca, BeautyWorksWest, Spa NK and Lost in Beauty.

Strike a pose
Glamourous yummy mummies and their beautiful daughters pouted for the cameras at the Hampstead branch of Comptoir des Cotonnier. The mothers and their mini mes were there to try their luck at starring in the Parisian brand’s latest campaign. Last year, Jane and Ellie Campbell were plucked from the St John’s Wood branch casting and debuted at the label’s Paris fashion show.

Eastern promise
The media set and locals headed to newly refurbished Shish Bar & Cocktail Lounge in Willesden Green recently to enjoy their new range of cocktails including Holy Shish (blackberries, mint, blackberry liqueur, sugar, lime, vodka, apple juice) and Imperial Kumquat (kumquat fruits, lime, sugar, cachaca).
A bizarre but funky mix of Eastern music set the mood while guests sampled canapés including spinach Borek, falafel and Kashmiri lamb. Mmm.

All that jazz
It was a full house at The White Horse’s first jazz and cocktail evening starring singer Marie Murphy, pianist Leon Greening, double bass player Julian Bury and trumpeter Steve Fishwick from Jazz to Go. Photographer Fiona struggled to get through the crowd but the Hampstead pubgoers weren’t shy – many asked her to take their pic. Guests sipped jazz era-inspired cocktails created especially for the evening by celebrity mixologist Wayne Collins. We couldn’t decide whether we preferred The Clover Club (Plymouth gin, raspberry sugared lemon and a lick of vermouth) or The White Lady (Plymouth gin and Cointreau shaken with sugared lemon).
